ROAD TRIP: Adams, Harrison, Marshall
This prelude to the LA Phil's West Coast, Left Coast festival includes two favorite string works by John Adams: Road Movies and Shaker Loops, as well as Lou Harrison's ballet score Solstice, and Ingram Marshall's Soe-Pa for acoustic guitar and electronics.
Performers include duo Alyssa Park, violin, and Scott Dunn, piano; the string septet of Sarah Thornblade, Joel Pargman and Ms. Park violins; Alma Lisa Fernandez, viola; John Walz and Timothy Loo cellos, and Timothy Eckert, double bass; as well as John Schneider, guitar with Scott Fraser, sound engineer. The Harrison ensemble will be made up of Rong-Huey Liu, oboe; David Washburn, trumpet; Steven Vanhauwaert, celesta, Danny Holt, tack piano; plus Mr. Walz, Mr. Loo and Mr. Eckert.
