A century after its creation the most startling breakthrough music, brought together in one evening.
Each of these epoch-changing works premiered in 1912-13. To experience them all together in one theatrical evening is unheard of. To start, miniatures from another planet by Anton Webern and Alban Berg. Then, Rite of Spring, which Debussy and Stravinsky test-drove on a piano bench - better to grasp its inner workings. Finally, her European successes in the original language aside, Ms. Julia Migenes will perform Cecil Gray's superb English translation Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire to honor the composer's desire for his masterpiece to be heard in the language of the audience.
